After President Donald J. Trump was elected, he signed a huge amount of executive orders, and the deportation of illegal immigrants was one of the most controversial and key executive orders.
There are mixed feelings about this order because a lot of U.S. families, especially in California, came here illegally. Some have even been here for generations in order to seek a better life.
Although those families have come here for a better life, other illegal immigrants have created a bad image for them by committing criminal acts.
Still, several Americans know a lot of illegal immigrants who are hardworking and determined to seek a bright future, but those who are up to no good can ruin it for those who have good intentions when coming to the United States.
One solution to weeding out the good from the bad is to demand that those seeking American citizenship follow a clearly defined path to citizenship.
"The process of legal immigration should be easier [because] some jobs cannot be filled without immigration,” said CHS senior Alvin Villafour.
According to news sources, President Joe Biden also deported a large amount of people during his term. This also means that more illegal immigrants were passing the borders at a higher rate under his administration as reported in The New York Times on January 22, 2025. Some would argue that the policies enacted by Trump or just a continuation of the stance that the United States has taken for years.
Carson High senior Atali’i Langford stated, “I think it's an unfortunate situation for a lot of people, but I believe that it could be a big step in the right direction for this country as a whole.”
Recently protests across the country have taken place headed by the Southern and Central American community in order to fight against the movement of mass deportations after President Trump’s promise to get rid of illegal aliens.
For example, recently in Los Angeles, California, protests took place, and the spotlight was on the Mexican community since they are our border neighbors. Protestors demonstrated their strength by taking to the highways, blocking traffic, and using violence in some cases.
The real solution may be difficult to attain but migrating into a country legally will allow you to live more comfortably and a lot of those who migrate here legally usually do great things because they worked so hard to get here while understanding the process.
With a legal immigration status, you will also have an actual opportunity to take pride in the country you migrate to because you have access to the same rights as the citizens of the country that you migrated too.
It is important to do your own research instead of trusting all media sources and others' opinions. The border security between the US and Mexico has been an issue for a while but now action is being taken by President Trump, once again, whether we like it or not.
