Many thought that Harris showed off her skills as a prosecutor while others like Carson High School senior Alvin Villafore believe that Harris fell short.

“Harris does not know what she is doing,” said Villaflore.

CHS AP mathematics instructor Mrs. Harris believed that former president, Donald Trump, appeared to include “racist” remarks.

Overall, both sides had critics with some believing that this debate was an event that would help them decide who to vote for as the presidential race is extremely close.; the New York Times reported that Harris is up 49% to Trump’s 46%, nationally.

The election is often decided by swing states. Unlike in California where the voters overwhelmingly choose the Democratic nominee, the swing states can choose either Harris or Trump with less predictability. The current swing states include Arizona and Nevada as well as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.

To further help voters decide, Vice President candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz face off on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
