Pantages theater is one of California’s known theaters with tickets for shows that are somewhat affordable for the middle class citizens.

This March, their lineup for shows has included a good amount of known shows. But the most known is Beetlejuice.

The dark comedy has been live at Pantages since the 10th of this month and will continue until the 22nd.

The musical, adapted from the Tim Burton 1988 film of the same title, follows an unusual teenager, Lydia Deetz, trying to cope with the recent death of her mother.

Since it has been adapted the musical has had over 750 performances, 679 of those performances being Broadway shows.

The original performers for Broadway included Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice and Sophia Anne Caruso as Lydia Deetz.

Following those actors, Pantages’ current performers for this run feature Ryan Stajmiger as Beetlejuice and Leianna Weaver as Lydia Deetz.

Luckily enough, a select few students in the Academy of Medical Arts here at Carson high school were lucky enough to attend a field trip to see this show on March 15 last Sunday.

One of those students, Darica Calbalda, a student in the Academy of Medical Arts at Carson High School, had been a first time viewer of this show and has said that she loved it. Since being invited she had been excited to see it all throughout the waiting period of the field trip.

As a first time viewer, the show can be a little shocking. However for those who do enjoy this kind of dark comedy this show is great.  “It was really good. The songs were catchy and the visuals were definitely cool.” Darica claimed and even said that the show was easy to follow along.

The comedy of this show makes for a lot of great moments. However there are some that stand out. “Honestly for me it was the entirety of the dinner scene.” Is what Darica claimed in reference to Beetlejuice’s summoning.

“There was so much going on and the chaos culminating into Lydia summoning Beetlejuice and him chasing everyone out of the house was just crazy.”

The amount of work shows like this takes to put on is definitely exhausting to a point for the directors, producers, and actors. In a show like Beetlejuice with all of its technical work, even first time viewers say it is worth seeing.

“Yes [I would recommend the show]. No explanation needed, it’s just a really cool show.”

So, if you’re ever looking for something to do, looking for a Beetlejuice show might be something for you.
