The very first annual FamilysGiving is a Thanksgiving Celebration Potluck event hosted by the Carson High School Parent Center.

This brand new event took place in the MPR from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on November 14th.

The MPR was transformed using multiple tables that were decked out with black tablecloths and lovely blue flower centerpieces.

This celebration also offered a variety of dishes including savory pies, from pecan to pumpkin pie. There were also main dishes such as pizza and chicken.

Karaoke was a staple of the event’s entertainment.

In addition, The Carson High School Marching Blue Thunder Drill Team made an appearance, giving an excellent performance.

Most importantly, this event brought Colts together exemplifying the true meaning of Thanksgiving.

CHS senior Roslynn Smith believes that events like these are a way to bring the community together.

“I think events like Familysgiving are important because they provide a way for families to build relationships outside of their own, for a more connected community,” said Smith.

Familysgiving inspired camaraderie and respect, tenets that are a part of our school community.

“I think family giving brings a sense of belonging to school. It would make us get closer to different families,” said CHS senior Giselle Reate. “Also, having these kinds of events would result in being closer to the school’s community by creating connections [while] being comfortable with each other’s presence.”

Familysgiving was able to bring students, parents and guardians as well staff together in a way that typically does not happen. This special gathering, through entertainment and food, created memories that will be cherished.
