Carson High School senior night for the wrestling team was full of action. The team was able to share one more night together as they faced off against a worthy opponent, Bell High School, with a lineup of both boys and girls on January 11th at 4:00 PM.
The night was also a celebration of the seniors on the team or more of a send off.
These worthy members had their names called out and were given plenty to commemorate the evening after winning despite years of previous losses. In true celebratory fashion, seniors revealed baskets filled with their favorite candies, names and photos highlighted on posters, and a spectacular balloon entrance with accompanying blue carpet.
“That was probably my favorite senior night in terms of what we did after and how we celebrated the seniors,” said junior captain and state qualifier Troi Ellis.
Coaches Diane Banjo, Bronston Yandall, Elijah Yandall, Jireh, and Jae all celebrated the accomplishments of their team.
Senior captains Maylene Manson, Omar Fernandez, Monroe O’Brien, Ulises Vera, and Allen Hill were given special recognition because of their contributions to the team.
The night was filled with emotion and a worthy goodbye as everyone showed appreciation to the seniors.
“The vibes in there were amazing. It felt good that the people came out to support,” said senior wrestler Armando Gomez.
The night was especially memorable for Omar Fernandez and Ulises Vera as they are the only wrestlers who have been a part of the team for all 4 years of high school.
