At Carson High School, students have noticed a lot of construction. Many students have wondered why this is happening and have also complained about many areas of school being under construction.
Carson High School senior Angel Sanchez in Global stated, “I feel that the construction being done around campus is very annoying and makes me walk [even] farther to the restrooms.”
Many students have complained about restrooms being closed down because of construction and that they don't have many restrooms open for student use.
Some places around campus that are under construction include water fountains, restrooms, the football track, the bleachers, AEE restrooms, and the area next to the library.
CHS junior Ena Garcia stated, “[We] need to use the restrooms and get around campus, [so] it's understandable why [students] are complaining. It is very tedious that’s for sure.”
Some agree with the idea of construction.
CHS senior Issac Barriga said, “I think it will be beneficial because we are going to have nicer bathrooms, and the school campus will overall [look] better.”
“Right now, the majority of the construction is ADA compliance which is American with Disabilities Act,” said Mr. Medinilla, assistant principal at CHS, “it is required by federal law that it’s designed to make things accessible for students and adults with disabilities, so they are putting new door knobs, new handles, toilets, or countertops [that are] required by federal law to make sure everyone has equal access.”
