Will Carson High School track runners rise to expectations or will they fall back?
Last track season there were some impressive accomplishments by the team and new athletes made a name for themselves.
Rising star Craig Walker, freshman at the Academies of Education and Empowerment, performed well with an outstanding time of 10.88 in the 100 meter, 22.34 in 200 meter, and 19’ 7.5 in the long jump competition.
Walker stated, “The job is not finished, and I only expect to get better from this point on.”
Carson High School junior Curtis Williams ran an impressive 15.90 in the 110 meter hurdles and 43.25 in the 300 meter hurdles.
“Last season was smooth. [I] could've done better, but I’m not tripping though,” said Williams. “I almost made it to the CIF finals in Fresno, California. I almost had it but I’ma get it back this year.”
In addition to the high expectations for the talented athletes, the coaching staff is hoping to continue serving in the best interests of the students.
“I believe we have one of the best coaching and support systems out of all schools. The coaches are good because they know what they are doing,” Walker said.
“Coaching staff is great. They always make sure I’m straight, and they help me in every aspect, not just track and field,” Williams added.
Carson Complex’s coaching is so dynamic because of the dedication and commitment they put into their athletes. The coaches are highly experienced and knowledgeable, have a passion for helping their athletes reach their goals, and have proven that they can help to shape champions.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork and building relationships amongst players and the raw talent of the athletes, Carson Track and Field is an excellent place for athletes to learn and grow.
