You ever want to experience the refreshing morning air filling your lungs as you step onto a trail surrounded by towering trees? Hiking offers not only a physical challenge but also a chance to reconnect with nature, face unexpected encounters, and gives one a proud sense of accomplishment.
The Hiking Club at Carson High School provides a safe and enjoyable experience for all CHS students to be able to get involved and become invested with nature and its beauty.
Rather than holding back and staying to themselves, students find Hiking Club to be a comfortable environment where all the members have things in common.
CHS junior Johnathan Cardova said, “I think hiking clubs are a really good outlet to get out of your comfort zone. I was able to meet with a lot of people who have now become very close friends of mine.”
The Hiking Club at CHS provides a comfortable environment for students while opening doors to new knowledge. The information you can gather is unlimited and allows students to learn and observe things they've never seen before.
“I was actually most interested [in] how much students got taught alongside traveling [so] I gave it a try and ended up falling in love with nature and traveling,” said CHS sophomore Angel Hernandez. “It’s become a new hobby of mine.”
Students also feel a sense of delight and pleasure as members of this club. There is so much to do and experience, provoking the imaginations of some. And the most beautiful part is that the novel experience is earned through dedication and hard work.
There is one catch: students must exceed a certain number of tasks in order to attend trips and visits.
“The biggest challenge for me was maintaining grades and credits. I fell behind a couple times, and I used the feeling I felt as motivation to improve,” said CHS senior Jasmine Diaz.
Although The Hiking Club is known as just a fun club, it's also a good source for helping students maintain grades overall and to help some participate in hikes and visits to areas as a sort of reward for their achievements.
Hiking Club grants Carson High and its students an opportunity to get involved with nature and experience both memories and earn accomplishments they can be proud of.
