Steve Lacy’s new album “Gemini Rights” was released July 15, 2022, and it was a success. Despite “Gemini Rights” just being Lacy’s second album, the album hit No.7 on the Billboard 200.
This newest album is mainly a R&B/Soul genre type. “Gemini Rights” is simultaneously leading three billboard charts including Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Alternative Albums. It has reached No.3 in the Top R&B/ Hip- Hop Album.
His most popular song, “Bad Habit”, is currently peaking at No.2 in the Billboard 100. “Bad Habit” has hit for a second week straight. Part of the reason that “Bad Habit” is currently having major success is partly because he was in the studio working with rapper Kanye West.
Carson High senior Francisco Mayoral mentioned that he has liked Steve Lacy ever since he was a middle schooler; he has been a fan since September 2017 because of the song “Love I.”
“His way of explaining his wicked, sad, love stories in a creative manner, making [him] the best,” said Francisco.
CHS senior Jonathan Guiterez said, “I can relate to him because of his love stories.”
Overall, some would give the album an overall, seven out of ten.
