So, now we’ve all heard of Benito Antonio Martinez aka Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican singer
who makes upbeat music that just makes us want to get up and dance! People are especially
impressed by his new album “Un Verano Sin ti” or “A summer without you” which was released on Friday, May 6 2022. He has recently been identified as Billboard’s No. 1 Latin artist in the U.S according to Spotify. Although many are familiar with the artist, have you heard of the “World’s Hottest Tour” that recently began on August 5th in Orlando Florida?
This is his fourth concert tour where he will visit over 30 different cities, promoting his new
album. It is a 40 song set list including some of his most popular songs.
The price of the tickets range from an estimate of $300-$4,500!
Benito recently stated in an interview with The New York Times, “Since forever, I’ve made it
clear to people that I’m never going to make a record that’s the same as another. This album is very Caribbean, in every sense: with its reggaeton, its mambo, with all those rhythms, and I like it that way”
Bad Bunny has a record of making the right musical choices as made obvious by his win of the MTV video music award for Artist of the Year.
The theme for the world's hottest tour includes a summer party beach vibe. There are two dozen dancers on the stage with him, a background of sand, palm trees, and beach chairs including vibrant colors like green, yellow, red and pink, and background noises of seagulls and waves crashing together. All of this just brings the whole beach vibe together.
Not only were Bad Bunny and the dancers on stage in beach summer party attire but even his fans were. Many pulled up in swimsuits, sunglasses, bucket hats, and neon clothing. A couple even made sun costumes that landed them on the stage with Bad Bunny along with Dj Diplo and Dj Alesso as the opening acts.
Other artists who have already joined him on stage to perform with him include Romeo Santos to sing “Volvi”, Jhayco singing “Tarot” and “Dakiti”, Chencho Corleone with “Me Porto Bonito”, and Jowell y Randy for “Safaera”.
He even flew on top of a palm tree over the whole crowd performing some of his songs which impressed many of his fans.
“I’ve always grown up listening to Spanish music; [Bad Bunny represents] a kind of a different
type of Spanish genre than other Spanish artists,” stated Carson High School junior Citlali
Salgado.
“I listen to Bad Bunny because his music brings all Latino/Hispanics together. Some may
disagree because of the words and/or sexual innuendo he uses or remarks. However, some of his music has a story behind it. Like ‘Compositor del Ano’ is one of my favorite songs. This song literally explains everything that happened in 2020, as in the racism, violence, and COVID. He addresses social issues...so many songs that have a message behind it,” said CHS junior Hazel Lavi.
It’s such an exciting performance to see-the happy vibes, everyone dancing, people singing their hearts out, and an amazing singer who gives his all in each performance.
“His music videos and style define gender norms and facilitate further inclusivity and acceptance for all. He is a part of the movement of today’s youth to speak up. His uniqueness follows this generation’s custom-made individuality and Latin Pride,” said Hazel.
