Halloween in high school is a time filled with excitement and creativity. Students eagerly plan their costumes, often coordinating with friends to determine the perfect theme based on what is trending or what students are interested in.
Carson High School sophomore Laura Martinez said, “Something I see a lot of is duo costumes from childhood tv shows or cats.”
Yet, avoiding obvious clichés is also important to some.
“People need to start being more creative. I want to see in their costumes that they have spirit,” said Martinez. “I don't want to see offensive costumes either where people are being insensitive [about] who they dress up as.”
Hugo Contreras, a senior at CHS, has a similar opinion about students needing more Halloween spirit.
“I want to see scarier costumes too. People forget that Halloween is also supposed to be spooky,” Contreras said.
Favorite character renditions are also popular,
“I have seen a lot of people dressing up as minions or as the Lorax.” said junior Dulce Calderon, even if she wants to do something a little different. “But, I’m going to be dressing up as a taco…just have fun. I think it's important for people to remember to be creative.”
