Babies Are to Stop Being Delivered As Staff Quit Over Vaccine Mandate.

By Ethan Jimenez

One of the most important places that we seek care for your baby both during and after they have been delivered is the hospital, but that might not be the case due to deliveries being at a temporary stop as staff begin quitting over a vaccine mandate. Due to the new Covid-19 delta variant, it has been made mandatory for staff and employees to be vaccinated depending on the specific job that they work for. Especially if you work in a hospital or somewhere that requires you to provide some medical care to someone which has taken a huge turn of events from the mandate. In New York City Lewis County Hospital had announced that all babies being delivered will be at a temporary stop after the goals of the vaccines were not made by the 24th of September and because of staff quitting over mandate.

According to the New York Times it states, “The math is just not working,” said Gerald Cayer, chief executive officer of Lewis County Health System, at a news conference on Friday. “The number of resignations received leaves us no choice but to pause delivering babies.”

This has proved to be a serious issue because although people are getting vaccinated that amount of staff that are leaving is nearly more than enough to be able to stop deliveries and that can cause a lot of harm and fear to the unborn babies and future parents.

The biggest problem that all of society has to deal with is how even though staff quit and refused the vaccination mandate there was already a huge shortage of employment due to the fear of illness caused by Covid-19. Some staff were even either fired or resigned for refusing the vaccine.

What is a baby?

A baby is a blessing that any family can have. They are human beings who will be the next generation to carry your family name and hopefully have a positive impact on the world as they continue to grow.

According to the New York Times it states, “The hospital, located in Lowville, the county seat, had expected to deliver about 200 babies this year, he added.” Having this estimated number of babies to be born is going to be an issue because most people are going to have to go to another hospital in New York which is going to cause more babies to stop being delivered if more staff don’t get vaccinated. The last thing we want is for parents of newborns to either be on the streets or somewhere else where there is no proper care for their child.

Possibly the best news that we have heard so far from NPR is, “Anyone who has resigned who changes their mind will be welcomed back,” he said.
