Carson High School hosted its second annual talent show on February 24th, 2023 in the OAR from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The talent show gives students the opportunity to showcase their unique talents on display for everyone else to see. This can range from dancing and singing to even musical talent.

Carson’s performers were phenomenal and assisted by their peers and CHS staff and administrators. People like our School Climate Advocate Lisa Robles, the Technical Director Felix Suavillo, the Stage Manager Maria Manalo Barrozo, and the tech crew including Evelyn Ramirez, Kasandra Pojol, Helen Ramirez, and Garcelle Galeon.

The EMCEES made the show even better, and they included Isandro Albarran, Jermanie Worthy, Christian Reddic, and Senor Deur.

The event was highly anticipated by many, including the participants themselves.

Andrea Villasana, who performed at the event as a singer and guitarist, said “[The show was] pretty cool….something that people can do to get more involved with the school.”

Auditions were held from February 6th to the 10th from the timespan of 4:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M in room J4 and the lucky final contestants, including Villasana, were the bands Low Beam, Jeremiah Lennox, and Clover, singers-Nathan Nacor, Ira Mendoza, Gin Choi, Breanna Domingo, Angel Clements, Salma Munoz, Rhea Reyes, Jermanie Worthy, Christine Dela Cruz, poet Isandro Albarran, and beatboxer Gionny Rodriguez.

Now, after hearing about Carson High students performing on stage, you might be wondering as to who might be performing on the stage. . Going in order of performance, first up was an original band named Low Beam who performed “Speed Racer” by Her’s. Next was Gionny Rodriguez who performed an original beatbox. Afterwards was Brianna Domingo who sung “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson.

The talented musical trio of Naco, Mendoza, and Choi sang “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar featuring H.E.R while Clements gave her rendition of “Snooze” by SZA.

The final performance right before intermission was given by the band Jeremiah Lenox who performed “La Curiosidad” by Eslabón Armado and Ivan Cornejo with them even having a collaboration with the aforementioned Salma Munoz they performed an original song named “Yo te Amaba”.

Villasana began the second half of the show, performing a guitar solo on “505” by Arctic Monkeys followed by Rhea Reyes singing “Quizaz”. Albarran's powerful original poem captured the audience’s attention near the end of the show.

Dela Cruz sang “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars followed by the final performance of the night when the band Clover took over and performed original songs “Caught Me By Surprise” and “Don’t Let Me Down”.

The event turned out to be a huge success with the stands in the OAR being filled with CHS students. All spectators supported the brave performers whose talents were put on display.

CHS freshman Layla Ortega said that the performers were “really good [and all] enjoyed all the performances.”

On a more wide scale level, the event seemed to be very well enjoyed, with many who attended posting videos and pictures of themselves or those on stage at the event.
