Christmas Decorations Before December

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

As soon as October ended, it was suddenly time for Christmas to begin rolling, despite there being some major holidays in between, like Thanksgiving. No matter where you are or what you are watching, it has been hard to ignore the decorations and full-fledged holiday season advertising campaigns. Because of this, many people become frustrated by the oversaturation of Christmas before the actual day that we celebrate it. Though there are people who are aggravated with those who have had decorations out since the first week of November, there are those who do enjoy it and don’t seem to find any problems with it.

Regarding early holiday decorations, GBLG senior Valerie Perez said, “I actually really love it, it doesn’t get me angry it instead makes me more excited for Christmas.”

The debate over when is a good time to put out Christmas decorations has been ongoing for years. Due to having those who hate and enjoy when it comes to decorating and putting things out related to Christmas earlier, the best way to have both parties satisfied is to wait until Thanksgiving passes. Acknowledge that holiday, have a fulfilling dinner, spend some quality time with family, then start to roll out the Christmas decorations. There are a lot of days in the year, the best we can do is give each holiday their individual acknowledgement and move on to the next one.
