College Classes

The senior year of high school can be the most stressful, yet the most important year in a student’s life. A few contributing factors to the stress of senior year have to do with major life decisions.

College classes can be an advantage for school students. Theses classes provide students with a variety of learning opportunities. College courses provide a wide scope of studies that help to develop students.

Carson High School offers college classes that might help to build up college credit before a student even starts college which can help them get a head start on their careers. Our Carson Complex College Counselor Ms. Naufahu is in charge of the college classes offered on campus.

“Through Harbor College, we offer Counseling 20, Health 11, and Political Science 1,” said Ms. Naufahu. “The reason why we offer these classes [is because] it’s more convenient for students to actually attend classes here on the Carson complex, and it’s right after school.”

Seniors should take this opportunity to take college classes at school because it makes a big impact on their future; the best part is that they even get college credit when they finish. In some cases, this opportunity is very rewarding.

“If you take political science, you don’t have to complete government which is a requirement for Carson High School,” said Ms. Naufahu.

This is good for some students because it takes the stress off of meeting a requirement to graduate.

Mr. Aquino, teacher at the Academies Educational Empowerment, teaches Political Science 1 as well.

“Everyone is part of a political system, and it’s important to understand how your government functions,” said Mr. Aquino.

Seniors should take advantage of this because as Mr. Aquino stated, “It’s the best deal on campus because you take [it] here at the high school, and you can get the high school credit [for] government…but you also get college credit…so it’s killing two birds with one stone.”

CHS has these amazing opportunities for our Carson Colts, and we all should take advantage and prepare for college!
