Were you thrilled? One of the most viewed television events in the United States is the Superbowl according to cbsports.com, and this year the event took place on February 2, 2020. What many enjoyed was the entertaining halftime performance by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

Carson High School Senior Karla Catalán said, “I enjoyed the performance, but I think Shakira outshined almost everyone because she brought the biggest energy… [Moreover,] I think [they were a great] duo but Jlo could have done a little more.”

Some believed that the two were incredible. Although, other students were not on the same page.

CHS Senior Dwayne Barrow said, “I did not enjoy the halftime show. I just believe[d] nothing can top Bruno Mars and Beyoncé halftime [performance] a couple of years ago. [This 2020] halftime show was good [because they brought] Spanish music.”

The Academy of Medical Arts freshman Shane Calang said, “I think Shakira and JLO were a good duo because of how high and well synced their voices sound together, but I think there were better performances in the past.”

Whether you enjoyed the halftime program or not, admit that there was incredible energy coming from the two Latin American superstars.

The performance brought out many cultural aspects of Spanish speaking countries and Spanish music as well as choreographed dances. It was a full stage of bright gifted women, men, and children of color that united the entire NFL audience.
