Dyslexia Awareness is an event to further the understanding of the disorder that certain people struggle with. Dyslexia is a disorder that involves difficulties of someone learning to read or interpret words. It is usually considered a disability but the people who has it still has as much knowledge as any other person.
Academy of Medical Arts junior Audrey Arellano stated “I feel bad for people with dyslexia because they struggle to read and understand, but I think they are still as smart as anyone else.”
Having dyslexia doesn’t mean that a person is dumb or slow, it means that person only needs more help to understand and learn as they grow. Children, teenagers, and even adults have dyslexia. They grow and learn just to understand and be on the same level as a person that does not struggle with reading, or interpreting certain words.
“It’s a very hard challenge to deal with and it’s a struggle to go through with their life. Those who struggle don’t give up, you can be successful.” Carson High School Dean Mr. Allen stated.
Dyslexia is very common within the ages 6-60 or even higher so people may deal with this disorder or disability their entire life. There are also many celebrities with dyslexia as well, such as Muhammad Ali, Magic Johnson, Henry Winkler and many more. Anyone with dyslexia in the world is not different from any other human being. They’re human just like anyone else and can become who they want to become in life.
