If you have ever been in a class with freshman Emily De La Cruz from the M.E.D.I.A MAGNET program or you just know her in general, then you would know that she runs a small business that features delicious baked goods.
Ever since De La Cruz was 8 years old, she has loved baking with her parents, family, and friends.
As she got older, she realized that she has a passion for it and a talent to work with any recipe and make it her own.
As she was having fun with different recipes, she got so many compliments from family and began experimenting even more. Her goal was to perfect her recipe so that she could sell her homemade items to others.
She started selling her cookies in October and her first customer was one of her friends, freshman Kayla Morales-Gochingco, a student at the Academy of Medical Arts. Not too long after, her cookie business took off and she began selling to her fellow classmates and friends outside of school.
¨I was even asked to bake my cookies for a party and got a lot of compliments about them,¨ said De La Cruz.
So far, De La Cruz has sold to almost 100 people in the past 3 months which is very impressive.
Selling cookies started off as just something to do, but it has become clear that she has a true talent for this.
¨Her cookies are really good, and I think that they are worth my money,” said one of De La Cruz's classmates, freshman Marco Cruz Jimenez for the M.E.Di.A Magnet.
Thankfully, her parents have been supportive of her and are happy and proud of De La Cruz for turning a hobby into a business.
De La Cruz is currently selling her cookies, and she is working on adding some new exciting flavors to her menu.
De La Cruz added, ¨Overall, I would like to just have my business grow bigger, and I just am really doing this for fun.¨
