Soccer season is here and Carson High School’s girls team is doing their thing. They practice and work out everyday after school from 3:30-5:30 to keep in shape except on Mondays and Tuesdays. Without this kind of dedication, they wouldn’t be able to run for long periods of time as needed during the game; its most definitely not as easy as it looks.
CHS senior Nicollette Pamiroyan said, “Even though we play for different reasons, I want to have the same mindset, so we can build a greater. I’m proud of our winter tournament; we made it to the championship game because, even though we lost, it was our first time making it that far.”
Academies of Education and Empowerment senior Rebecca Martin stated, “ My expectations are for everyone on the team to give 100% each and every game.”
Like every player, she has something to look forward to, such as “playoffs.”
CHS junior Evelyn Gallegos said, “I didn’t expect to make a bond with the team, we all have our differences, but soccer is something we can relate to.”
The girls’ soccer coach Mr.Torres said, “A goal I have for them is to continue to help establish the program, a program that is organized, disciplined, and committed to playing as a team. It’s taken some time to build a culture where the girls understand their expectations and responsibility.”
He expressed how nice it is to see that the team has improved over the last few seasons by going to playoffs and doing well in tournaments, but as a coach, he wants the structure and to see a positive program where the students are working hard.
“The wins and losses don’t mean anything to me,” Mr.Torres explained.
We wish the girls soccer team the best of luck in their last games as they head into playoffs.
