A trill rapper named Lud Foe has been real hot in the industry lately. Foe was born and raised on the west side of Chicago, Illinois where he explained how he witnessed nothing but tragedies. He inspires many individuals through the music he makes.
He made his first rap impression in 2015 with the popular singles “Im Da Man” and “Cuttin Up”.
Both songs were remixed rappers Lil Durk and Lil Herb. His first mixtape, “Welcome 2 Chiraq: Lud Foe Edition”, made a lot of noise and launched his rap career.
A lot of people fail to realize that trap music has many sub-genres such as Bubble Gum Trap, Heaven Trap, and Drill. Many common trap-rappers are Future, Young Thug, and Gucci Mane.
Drill is a style of trap music originating in the Southside of Chicago defined as dark, grim, violent, and nihilistic lyrical. Most who rap in this style come up from lower class southern areas.
“It’s good street music,” said Carson High School freshman Johnathan Hernandez, “You’ll never see a rapper spit the way he does.”
“He’s 50/50 because there are many drill rappers out there and very few who are able to rap and have the same flow as him,” said Academy of Medical Arts junior Julissa Gonzalez.
There are many opinions about Drill and even if some feel that the music is too harsh or gruesome, many enjoy the sound.
“Drill music is the best music. I like how it has no hooks and continuously keeps going in,” said CHS senior Niko Cross.
Drill is not for everybody, but he does talk about the struggles of southern neighborhoods. If you like hard beat drops and spoken truth, you should check it out.
