Marvels newest and debatable film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Reviews regarding Marvels’ latest release seem to be mixed, some people enjoyed the movie while others found things such as the pacing or just the overall plot messy in terms of Marvel films. Not just fans, but critics seemed to be divided on the quality of the film too, with The New York Times calling this film, ¨ The mold in the avengers´ shower¨, and with No Majesty saying, ¨It´s a definite step up from the original.” Although the film seems to have overall above average ratings, it does seem to have its fair share of criticism regarding the pacing of the film. With viewers finally becoming more comfortable with sitting in theaters, the film had the advantage of releasing in a time where some craved the old feeling of going to the movie theater.

The plot of the film starts with Eddie still attempting to refurbish his career as a journalist, interviewing Cletus Kasady, a disturbed serial killer. Things go wrong in every way during the interview, souring both Eddie and Venom's relationship, and giving Kasady an alarming amount of power. While Eddie and Venom split up during the film, by the end they´re forced to reconcile and work together to stop Kasady. While Kasady has a goal set out on running away with his equally deranged love Frances, her overall power clashes with Carnage, making their mission a failure in the end.

The film gave quite enjoyable insight into Venom exploring the cities, and one scene that viewers particularly remember. While in a L.G.B.T.Q nightclub, Venom makes a speech about his own freedom and the cruel treatment of aliens, though the viewers know he´s talking about his freedom as an alien living here, the line ¨Im out of the Eddie closet!¨ alludes can allude to not only his own freedom but the relationship that the two previously had. The scene made a nice tie to both the plot but the community that could watch and relate to a speech, even if it is coming from a somewhat absurd alien. The film really lets the relationship between Eddie and Venom shine, even with the focus on Anne and her interactions with them, you really can have one without the other.

The post credits scene left a lot for the world of Marvel open, having many fans excited for the next installment. Overall, even if the film did have issues concerning the pacing of this movie's plot, viewers can overall agree that this movie was at the very least a fun time.
