A big congratulations to the Natural Beauties Club for another successful fashion show. The models hit the runway at Carson High on Friday March 16th. With the help of their amazing host Dominique Payne and Carson High’s very own Ms. Harris as the director. We were taken on a tour to see the Fashion Capitals of The World.
CHS junior Sarah Finley stated, “I chose to do Milan and Tokyo. I thought these themes would be fun to do, I like the looks of them [the style and clothing]. The hardest part of the show, for me, was practicing in front of other models. It was very nerve wrecking.—modeling is fun.”
The first stop was North America where they included: Los Angeles, New York, and Mexico. Next, we landed in Europe which included: Milan, London and Paris. After those mind blowing catwalks, we entered Asia which included: China, Tokyo. We can’t forget about the jaw dropping beauties from Africa and the Pacific Islands; all were represented well.
Each location consisted of both modern and traditional clothing with a little twist from some outfits that mixed both.
The models, male and female, had a great time on the runway bursting with confidence and glamour. This show was not only to celebrate women nationally but also a way to get students to break out of their shells. The basis of the club is to learn to be yourself and to be comfortable with who you are and not worry about society’s judgement. What is a better way to do that than to strut the runway without a care in the world?
“I would totally recommend it to others. I feel like any and every one could enjoy it— I was able to learn that confidence trumps all,” said Academy of Medical Arts junior Kristine Rovelo.
“The whole point [of] doing the fashion show during March is to celebrate Women’s History Month. [ The fashion show] gives students an opportunity to go out and express themselves and embrace who they are,” stated CHS teacher Mrs. Harris, “We chose fashion capitals of the world because of the members and the president Shawna Blocker.”
“In the show…I express[ed] myself in a way that people can enjoy. My themes [were] LA, New York and London. I chose these three categories because my style resembles those fashion capitols,” said CHS freshman Raymond Bengson.
This year was amzing and full of wonderful perfornances .We can’t wait to see what they plan for next year but we’re all excited.
