People Really Outta Make It!

Prom is a formal dance for the seniors to share with their class, as one of the last times to be together before they disperse onto different paths. Often times, people feel prom is just a ridiculous way to spend money. Students should not mind what others decide to wear, or how they look, or what vehicle they pull up in. People feel pressure as well to find a date for this occasion. Prom shouldn’t be this way. Prom is about spending a great time with good people. You don’t need all these things to make the night special. Having a date is nice but it’s not a must. You can easily go with a group of friends and it’ll be just as great. Every senior who is eligible to go to prom should go! The night will be a 100% better. There’s no need to be stressing about prom. It should be nothing else other than excitement. You could even invite someone who does not attend Carson High, which is really beneficial. People should take advantage of it. People can take someone they feel comfortable with from outside of school.

Makiya Crouch, a senior at Carson High School explained, “Prom should be a special day, everyone deserves to feel beautiful and handsome. It shouldn’t matter if you show up alone or with a date or with a group of friends. We should just enjoy ourselves for accomplishing four years of school together.”

These activities such as prom and grad night are rewards to the seniors for passing their A-G requirements. It’s not something to complain or be upset about.

Carson High School senior Crystal Perez shared a different opinion. “Prom is a lot of money for just one night. It’s not a big deal. Most people will be sitting down, not dancing and I bet the food isn’t even all that good.”

Although she has a point, there will always be people who don’t want to dance, but it’s entirely possible that they can still enjoy their time with friends. People should not worry about others and what they plan to do that night. It should just be about you rewarding yourself for finishing high school. People who decide not to go will be absolutely missing out on a great experience with memories to last a lifetime.
