February 14th is a day of romance commonly known as Valentine’s Day. Many people celebrate by exchanging gifts such as cards, flowers, going on dates, and having fun. The most popular idea is going out with your love and enjoying each their company. Everyone has a different perspective on the idea “perfect date,” the “normal date,” or the “worst date.”

It all depends on the person. A perfect date to you might be a nightmare to someone else or the other way around. Everyone has a taste for something different.

“I enjoy going to Giuliano’s to get some Chicken Alfredo [while] eating it outside. After that, [I like to] go to my house [to] watch a good movie,” said Academy of Medical Arts junior Mariana Sanchez.

Romance is something special, a connection between someone and their other half. There are images all over social media to highlight the typical “perfect” image of Valentine’s Day. Mostly, social media showed how it’s the small things that get to someone’s heart like a simple hug or just someone’s favorite food.

“My idea of a normal date is picking up my boo from her house and getting snacks from 7/11. Then, [we] drive to my house and throw on some old movies,” stated Academies of Education and Empowerment sophomore John James.

We all have spectacular ideas when it comes to dates, but sometimes things don’t go as planned which is the ideal “worst date.”

When it comes to dating, you can never know what to expect. If people tend to be themselves when dating, the excitement and spark of romance can be the unknown. Don’t be afraid to try something new, it might be the best Valentine’s Day yet.
