The 45th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, has started his campaign for 2024. He served as President from January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021 and lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. He now says that he wants to get back in office in 2024. Early polling results have shown that Trump could win in 2024. Although some notable Republicans do not want him back in office after he caused lots of chaos, he still has his fair share of support.
Opinions about a “Trump 2024” campaign are consistent with negativity here at Carson High School.
CHS senior Kaylie Jimenez stated, “I wouldn’t want him to run for President again; I think it would cause a lot of conflict all over again.”
Some critics believe that a Trump repeat could tear the republican apart and some even believe that Trump just wants to run for publicity and not to “Make America Great Again.”
It is obvious that it will be harder for Trump to run this time because of things he caused like the 2021 attack on the U.S capitol by a mob of his supporters. For reasons like these, both parties, the democrats and republicans, have reservations about Trump.
CHS senior Natalie Montoya stated, “Personally I think that we should vote for a president who will make changes in a positive manner and [has] positive affirmations. I think Trump should not run for president again because he causes a lot of problems.”
A lot of people share the same opinion and are adamant that Trump stay out of office. Others say that he did a good job as president. Yet, the thing is, he seems to have woke up the racism in this poor country that lies just beneath the surface.
