The Little Library

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

by Kevin Galvan // Staff Writer

Our school has recently installed a new and unique little house outside the doors of the Carson Complex library.

Our school librarian Mrs. Bollinger stated, “It is called the little free library, based on the idea by a man named Tom Bol from Hudson, Wisconsin. He built the first one in honor of his mom; she was a school teacher and she loved to read.”

She goes on to explain that “there’s only one registered in the Carson area, and it’s at the Carson Sheriff Station. Our community really needs to have one that’s available to everybody. The little library is only for book donations. If you take a book, try to put one back.”

In addition, she added, “Books help you become a better person mentally and physically. They are the keys to success. Books actually saved my life when I was a teenager. I just want to continue this and make kids excited about reading.”

The little library is such a unique item to our school, and everyone should go and check it out when they have a chance. If people can’t afford to buy new books or just want new books to read, the little library is a great place to visit if you’re in need.
