The Carson Girls Volleyball team has recently earned themselves the title of 2023 Marine League Champions. The girls went 9-1 throughout the Marine League season with their first loss against Narbonne High School.
On Thursday, October 12, 2023, the team defeated San Pedro 3-2 to become league champions.
Carson High School is very proud of the Carson Girls Volleyball team's achievement.
Some are particularly inspired by the hard work of the upperclassmen as they come together to set an example for the underclassmen.
“It was definitely a challenge playing against San Pedro,” said Angelica Franco, a senior from the Academy of Medical Arts (AMA) “The way the game went would dictate if we would become Marine League Champions or not”
The players worked very hard throughout their whole season with lots of effort and dedication.
“I think this 23-24 season has been really exciting, while we had our ups and downs, we truly are back, and I believe better than ever,” said AMA senior and Carson’s captain Kylie Ross. “It feels really good to know that we can do this and win it for ourselves and the program.”
In comparison to last year, the girl's team did not get the outcome they wanted. This year they were able to enter the playoffs while being able to compete and become Marine League champions.
“It's an amazing feeling to have the title of being champions even if it’s just Marine League, but it just shows how far we’ve gone throughout this season,” said AMA senior Alexie Monton. “It was a good game that helped us prepare for the playoffs”.
The Carson Girls Volleyball team worked hard every day to get to the point where they are today and to prepare for the San Pedro game.
Half of the girl's volleyball team this year are seniors. Winning this title made their imprint on Carson High School and paved the way for new volleyball athletes.
