The New Latino Club

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

by Brice Wilson // Staff Writer

Carson High School students Julia Mayoral and Arianna Perea, both juniors, are the founders of the new and upcoming Latino Club; they are giving many CHS students a new voice.

Similar to the Black Student Union Club here at Carson Complex, the Latino Club gives us an insight and perspective into the Latino culture and traditions.

Julia encourages the huge population of Latino kids here at Carson Complex to join.

Her purpose for starting the club is “to give Latino kids a voice and to give back to the community, showing that WE are a part of it!”

Her co-founder and President of the club also encourages Latinos to join and has aspirations of the club growing.

Current members of the club such as CHS junior Leslie Vasquez and CHS junior Evelyn Gallegos both mentioned that they joined the club “to let people know that they are here to express Latino culture and traditions.

CHS teacher Mr. Torres stated, “The Latino Club is just getting started but will be huge not only for CHS but also for the Latino community.”

If you are interested and would like to share your voice in support of the Latino community, go and check out the new club in room G21
