With the Saints having to relocate, because of the destruction from Hurricane Ida, they kicked their first game of the season off at the TIAA Bank Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. For more than 10 years, the New Orleans Saints always counted on its offense to win their games. Now, during their first game of the season and their post-Drew Brees era, the defense actually carried the team this time. With no mistakes made, Quarterback Jameis Winston performed completely outstanding, completing 14 of 20 passes and throwing five tremendous touchdown passes against the Green Bay Packers throughout the 4th quarter without his Wide Receiver Michael Thomas, who was out due to having surgery on his ankle after previously hurting it multiple times last season. Although the offense was a big part of the game, he defense was a huge contributing factor of the New Orleans Saints 38-3 lead against the Green Bay Packers.
As far as the Green Bay Packers, their offensive line was not able to contain the Saints’ front seven. With them not being able to contain the Saints’ front seven, that resulted in only 29 rushing yards for the Green Bay Packers. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had only thrown 133 yards during the game. With 10 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, second year Quarterback Jordan Love entered the game to try and save the Green Bay Packers, but it drastically failed.
On the Saints defensive team, eight different defenders had made at least two tackles, with them being led by Linebacker Demario Davis with four tackles and Demarcus Davenport also had one sack in the game against Aaron Rodgers. During an interview with Aaron Rodgers on the “Pat McAfee Show”, Aaron Rodgers told McAfee the first two interceptions happened because he had taken shots directly to his groin. “I don't like to make a lot of excuses for interceptions," Rodgers said just before making one. "...That [first interception] was entirely due to the double groin shot I took."
