“You never know hard work until you have to do a complete play with only chairs and a timer.” says anyone who has participated in DTASC, also known as Fall Drama Festival. The Fall Drama Festival is one of the biggest drama festivals in the state of California for high school and middle school students. At this competition there are many different categories which include Comedy, Musical, Student Originals, Monologue (which only includes one actor), and Big Group Drama. The students from Carson High School have been participating in this for about 4 years now.

“DTASC is very difficult from learning scenes, to knowing who’s in your group, to figuring out who is going to do what part, to memorization, to blocking, and just the stress of wanting to in is very stressful.” states CHS Senior Domonique Payne.

“The highlight of the competition for me would be making it to finals and then hearing my name being called and plus you get to see other groups [from schools all around California preform their scene] and see their perception of the scene that you did because everybody has a different idea on how the scene should look.” Domonique also said.

Now we are looking forward to see if the Colts Thespian can bring in the 1 st place trophy at this year’s festival that will be happening Oct. 28th. For more information about the Carson Thespian you can also stop by Carson High Thespian Coordinator, Marcia Barryte in room F-2 during nutrition and lunch.
