‘Tis the Season for a Jingle Bell

Winter has arrived, and Christmas is around the corner. We all know that the best way to enjoy the season is by listening to some of the greatest tunes that the holidays have to offer. Some people would argue that Christmas music is boring, repetitive, and corny. However, these tunes bring a spirit-filled joy into family households, and also give a stronger meaning to why we celebrate Christmas at all.

Some people only enjoy Christmas for the gifts, without knowing the meaning behind the holiday. It’s not only resembled in the flashing lights, huge trees, or the cards and gifts, moreover, it is the celebration in which we celebrate the birth of Christ. The importance of family and togetherness has been brushed aside, in favor of shopping and spending more than what is needed.

AEE senior Omar Hernandez explained that Christmas music “gets me in the mood for Christmas spirit, and brings my family together.” Christmas music may seem annoying and overplayed, but it subtly puts people in the mood to give, share, and enjoy time with those they hold dear to their hearts.

This Christmas, you should look at the holiday from a different perspective. Think about the real reason why we celebrate it, for family, friends, and to bring joy to others. You will feel a greater appreciation for the holiday that you may have not considered in the past. Put on a Christmas station sometime, and it’s possible that you might find yourself in a jovial mood.
