A recap for the Boys Volleyball season includes ranking 449th Nationally, 199th in California, 8th in the Los Angeles City Selection, and 7th in the Los Angeles City Selection Division 1 according to Max Preps. The team is expected to not only live up to last year’s rankings, but to maybe even surpass it.

Last season, the varsity team lost against Francis Parker during the 2022 CIF SoCal Boys Volleyball Championships Division III, making it a sad ending to their season. The players may have been unhappy, but they were also left with a feeling of accomplishment knowing that they were able to make it that far.

Following the disappointing ending to their previous season, they started the new season against Torrance on the 21st of February. Their varsity team won by 3 sets making the start of their season a success.

A new season means new opportunities and new ways to represent Carson.

Carson High School junior Andres Haro said, “I'm feeling pretty good about the season. I love everyone on this team.”

“I'm actually excited to play this season, but I’m a bit nervous because it is my first season playing. This team means a lot to me. I love these guys!” said Academies of Education and Empowerment junior, Donato Green.

More than several of the boys are excited to see where this 2023 season takes them due to their hard work, dedication, and effort. With the leadership of their coach Jeremy Malazarte, the boys are more than sure to make it to the CIF SoCal Boys Volleyball Championship Division once again, bringing the trophy back home to Carson.
