We Got Spirit, How About You?

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

How do you show your school spirit? Spirit week is a time where all three schools can come together and show their Colt Love. This year, spirit week was celebrated from October 30th to November 3rd, and there was a separate theme for each day of the week. Monday was Pajama Day, Tuesday was Halloween, Wednesday was Way Back Wednesday, and Thursday was Jersey Day. These four days led up to Friday: Color Wars! Color Wars is when all four grade levels compete with each other to see who has more school spirit.

Each year, spirit week has a different outcome.

“We have spirit week to raise school spirit. We try to do it around the week of our rivalry game against Banning,” said Ms. Vernon, Carson High School’s leadership teacher. This week is a way for all to have fun as a complex. Spirit week had a great outcome, and students from all three schools participated.

“I participated in Halloween, Jersey Day, and Color Wars,” stated CHS senior Tania Johns.

“I participated in PJ [Day], Halloween, and Jersey Day,” said CHS senior Isabelle Serrano. Even some of the teachers showed their spirit.

“I usually try to participate in all of them [the days],” Ms.Vernon said.

Every year the theme of spirit week varies so we never know what is in store for us.

“I liked it; [my favorite was] Pajama Day because I was able to participate [without] a lot of effort,” said Academies of Education and Empowerment senior Kelly Cobos.
