The XFL is a professional American football league. Many people may ask, what is the difference between the XFL and NFL? The XFL is marketing itself as a much faster version of the NFL with games that finish in less than three hours. To do that, the league has changed some of the rules that the NFL follows including a continuous clock that won’t stop for incomplete passes or plays that go out of bounds, except in the final two minutes of each half.
For the 2020 season, there are 8 teams in the XFL: Dallas Renegades, DC Defenders, Houston Roughnecks, Los Angeles Wildcats, New York Guardians, St. Louis Battle Hawks, Seattle Dragons, and the Tampa Bay Vipers.
Among these teams, 3 members from the Los Angeles Wildcats came to visit the Carson Complex this spring. One of the athletes, 27-year-old linebacker Quentin Gause, enjoys playing for the XFL.
“My favorite part of playing in the XFL is [that it gives] another opportunity to get back into the NFL, and [I enjoy] just playing for the love of the game,” Gause explained, noting that the competition within the XFL is similar to what you would find in the NFL.
“My favorite part about playing in the XFL is meeting new people and continuing to chase my dream of making it back to the NFL,” said running back Larry Rose III.
Offensive tackle Dwayne Wallace has encouraging words for younger football players still in high school who want to have a professional football career post graduation.
“It is not easy [but] keep going. Take every opportunity you get. Keep on top of your grades,” said Wallace.
The XFL gives many opportunities to young athletes and Carson Complex is proud to have their encouragement.
